I just wanted to quickly highlight a great backup product.Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition
Veeam Community edition is a great option for homelabbers. It allows you to backup up to 10 VMs for free. It allows you to get your feet wet with the Veeam backup software.
This past weekend, I setup a Windows Virtual Machine to run Veeam v11.
The job schedule is as follows:
-A VM backup job runs once a week to backup all of the small Virtual machines. This includes VPN machines and AD DC machines.
-A VM Backup job runs once a week to backup larger VMs. This includes VDI machines and other Windows VMs.
-The files are replicated once a week from one NAS to another NAS.
-The files are copied to a local drive which is disconnected when not in used.
This is a great simple setup to ensure your Virtual Machines are protected again Ransomware and drive failures.
So, what do you use for backup? Let me know in the comments.
